Cathedral Rock

Yesterday we went for another hike ( a tough and muscle sore today hike :) at Cathedral Rock up at Mt. Charleston. We hiked up to 8,650 feet with an elevation gain of 1,200 feet. Basically the views were amazing and we were TIRED!! Once again Claire went for a ride in her backpack and she did amazing, even on the way down I was just looking at her and she would start to laugh. She was laughing so hard and loud that it was echoing, it was too cute! When we were at the top we sat and ate lunch and enjoyed the beautiful views.
Hiking is becoming one of our weekend rituals and we are having so much fun exploring different trails. Enjoy!

Cathedral Rock- wanted you to see how high up we are hiking compared to where we parked

these pretty purple flowers were everywhere on the trail

click on the pic- you can see a waterfall almost in the middle of the pic. We ended up passing it on the trail

11 months

Claire is now 11 months!!
 things she can now do...
  • take about 5-6 steps in a row
  • lick her lips on command, she copies us
  • clicks her tongue in her mouth
  • LOVES to play peek-a-boo
  • sit and watch a whole Baby Einstein movie about 20 mins
  • crawl so fast, she also loves it when we chase her; she starts laughing so hard
  • splashes when she gets in the pool
  • she sleeps like 12 hours at night (amen) straight and takes two 2-2.5hr naps during the day
I know that there is more that she can do, these are some the highlights. Still no teethers!! Oh this past month we did find out that she is allergic to avocadoes, sort of scary.. she got hives. Poor baby, it wasn't fun :(

thought she looked like a line backer about to go in for the tackle!!

just dipping her toes in the water

scooting herself off the edge to go to daddy

she made it!!!

Mary Jane Falls

Yesterday we hiked Mary Jane Falls on Mt. Charleston. It was a beautiful hike with cool crisp air, a much needed change from the dusty dry heat of the valley. The scenery reminded us of Oregon with pine trees and actual greenery instead of Red rocks and sand. We hiked about 3.5 miles and climbed an elevation to about 9,200 definitly got a good workout. Claire rode in the backpack and she did sooo good!!

Valley Of fire

We decided that on Sunday (july 3) that we were going to go and explore Valley of Fire state park. It is only about 40 miles east of Vegas, so it is relatively close to our house. As you can see from the pics we had a really good time.
